I work in the etching process either by dry point on soft metal or by etching a copper plate with acid, sometimes in combination with monoprint. Etchings are about texture. The etched copper plate sinks into the cotton rich paper, as it passes through the press. The most exciting moment is when the paper is pulled back from the plate to reveal the first proof.
In the Wildlife series I enjoy discovering textures using aquatint and how to add colour in different ways to achieve subtle qualities.
This is a way of drawing on an inked plate and then printing on paper through a roller press. I use this method in 'Gardens of the World' a series of works which celebrates small creatures On the Wing.
Poetry quotes feature sometimes etched in reverse on copper and printed with a blurred effect.
Other Printmaking Methods. I experiment with photo etching and woodcut.
