Barbra Cropper is an etcher/printmaker who exhibits locally in Cumbria, Lancashire and also nationally. Her work reflects the strong affinity she has with nature. She looks at transience and the passage of time. Her work is inspired by her travels. Exotic flowers are discovered in gardens of the world. The image stays in my minds eye long after the impression and pushes me to prepare a plate for etching or monoprint.
'My work is about the beautiful, the exquisite ,a flower, lakeland tress, small winged creatures, children playing'.
Recently Barbra has looked at trees surrounding her studio in Cumbria. Another series of work is based on the energy of circles when shades of lilac and purple are used.
'I do not seek to create a likeness but rather a magical moment or thought process which could be an abstract concept.'
'Printmaking captures all my senses. When I ink up a plate, cover it with damp paper and take it through the press there is a strong element of intrigue and excitement'
